The intercom at the house rings.
"Welcome home," I say, unlocking the automatic door to the first floor apartment building.
Then I go to the front door with my camera in hand, leave the door slightly open and wait in ambush.
Knowing that I was on standby, my son stopped at the end of the corridor and met my eyes through the camera. Then he came dashing down the short corridor with a smile on his face. His usual welcome home look.

Comment from Advisor

The photographer's gaze of overwhelming love and the child's smile of relief, knowing that the gaze is always there, are all packed into this one photo. I felt the beauty in "everyday things." I think this photo allows you to imagine the atmosphere of the moment, the time before and after, and the long years of life up until now. I think it also allows you to imagine the future, whether this "everyday thing" will change or stay the same.
