Lessons

The rule in our house about extracurricular activities is "Try out anything you want to do right away" and "If you don't like it, quit right away."

Since it's what I want to do, I'm learning what I like rather than what I'm not good at. I've studied a lot at school, but I think that my extracurricular activities will give me experiences that I can't have at school. My eldest daughter, who is in the fourth grade, is taking piano, swimming, and modern ballet. My second daughter, who is in the first grade, is taking art school, swimming, and modern ballet.

Although the practice seems to be tough at times, they continue to enjoy it because they get to experience the joy of moving up to the next grade and the recital. I also learn from the children when they come home from their lessons. "This is how the teacher draws pictures!" or "This is how you use piano pedals!" It's fun to learn things I didn't know from the children, and it's really cute when the children proudly teach me.

I believe that learning is about learning about a new world and expanding one's horizons. Today, I will continue to work hard to take my children to and from their lessons, so that they can expand their worlds, and my own world as well.
